New Thinking on Social Design Webinar

Course description

This webinar, led by Professor Lucy Kimbell and Dr Jocelyn Bailey of the Social Design Institute, will give professionals insights and perspectives on what social design is, why and how it has emerged and how organisations can build capacity to carry it out. It draws upon research and practice in the Social Design Institute including a set of 12 social design principles.

Who should attend this session?

This webinar is aimed at design professionals looking to develop their understanding of social/sustainable practice. It is also suitable for civil servants, local government officers or people working in business/other organisations who are interested in deploying design, but who would like to take a more critical and socially conscious perspective.


After this session you will:

  • Gain a greater understanding of what social design is
  • Learn some approaches for considering and addressing the social through design
  • Be encouraged to reflect on how the social aspects have been addressed through your work
  • Be given some practical steps for building social design capacity and capability
