Standard Visitor visa enrolment

If you’re coming to study in the UK for up to 6 months, you will need to arrange Standard Visitor immigration permission.

You will need to follow these steps to enrol at UAL:

If you arrange your Standard Visitor immigration permission before you travel to the UK

You’ll need to upload the following documents to the ‘my Online Registration’ section of your UAL Portal. You should upload good quality photos or electronic copies of them:

  • A copy of your passport ID page
  • A copy of your Visitor visa vignette (sticker in your passport)
  • Most recent date of entry stamp in your passport to the UK OR
  • Your travel ticket and/or boarding pass if you are eligible and entered the UK via the eGates, did not receive a date of entry stamp or arrived via the Republic of Ireland. This should show the date of your arrival in the UK and your full name.

If you arrange your Standard Visitor immigration permission at the UK border

If you're a non-visa national, the country of your nationality is not listed on the UK government’s Visa National list, you are permitted to enter the UK without applying for a Standard Visitor immigration permission in advance and request entry as a Standard Visitor at the UK Border.

If you’re a national of an EEA country, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, or the USA, you may see a UK Border Force Officer or you can use an eGate, where you’ll be digitally recorded as a visitor.

If you see a UK Border Force Officer, you may or may not receive a date of entry stamp in your passport. This is because as a national eligible to enter the UK through an eGate, there’s no requirement for you to receive a date of entry stamp.

Although you may not receive a date of entry stamp in your passport, you will still need to evidence your date of entry to the UK.

You’ll need to upload the following documents to the ‘my Online Registration’ section of your UAL Portal. You should upload good quality photos or electronic copies of them:

  • A copy of your passport ID page
  • A Standard Visitor visa stamp in your passport if you met a UK Border Force Officer and received one OR
  • Your travel ticket and/or boarding pass if you used the eGates, did not receive a date of entry stamp or arrived via the Republic of Ireland. This should show the date of your arrival in the UK and your full name.

If you are a non-visa national of the country that is not eligible to use the eGates you must see a UK Border Control Officer and get a date of entry stamp in your passport.

You’ll need to upload the following documents to the ‘my Online Registration’ section of your UAL Portal:

  • A copy of your passport ID page
  • A Standard Visitor visa stamp you received in your passport.

Please note: you are a non-visa national if your country is not listed on the UK government's visa national list.
