If you’re coming to study in the UK for up to 6 months, you will need to apply for a Standard Visitor visa.
You will need to follow these steps to enrol at UAL:
If you get a visa before you travel to the UK
You’ll need to upload the following documents to the ‘my Online Registration’ section of your UAL Portal:
- a copy of your passport ID page
- a copy of your Visitor visa vignette (sticker in your passport)
- a date of entry stamp to the UK if you met a UK Border Force Officer
- your flight ticket or boarding pass if you used eGates or arrived via the Republic of Ireland.
If you get a visa at the UK border
If you’re from one of the countries allowed to get a Standard Visitor visa stamp once you arrive in the UK (non-visa nationals), you’ll need to upload:
- a copy of your passport
- a Standard Visitor visa stamp in your passport if you met a UK Border Force Officer
- your flight ticket or boarding pass if you used eGates or arrived via the Republic of Ireland.
You're a non-visa national if you're not from one of the countries listed on the UK government's visa national list.
Arrival in the UK
Entering through an eGate
If you’re a national of an EEA country, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea or the USA, when you arrive in the UK you may choose to enter using an eGate instead of seeing a UK Border Force Officer.
Even if you meet a UK Border Officer you may not get a date of entry stamped in your passport. That’s because as a national eligible to enter the UK through an eGate there’s no requirement for you to receive a date of entry stamp.
To confirm the date of your arrival in the UK, you must:
- Upload your flight ticket and boarding pass into your UAL Portal. We need to see proof you entered the UK during the validity of your visa.
Meeting a UK Border Force Officer
You must upload your date of entry stamp provided by the UK Border Force Officer unless you are exempt as a national eligible to enter the UK through an eGate. This confirms you entered the UK during the validity of your visa.
