What is the Diploma in Professional Studies?
Through the Diploma in Professional Studies (DPS), you can gain practical experience during year 3 by working with an employer for up to a year. This hands-on experience, whether it involves a complete product development cycle or a large-scale project, prepares you to become a knowledgeable practitioner in your field.
Every year, Central Saint Martins supports students across diverse disciplines, from fashion, textiles, and jewellery to fine art, ceramics, and product design, in securing placements both in the UK and abroad. Many DPS students receive job opportunities upon graduation, making this an opportunity to focus interests and shape your career.
At CSM you are immersed in an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment where creativity, critical thinking, and experimentation drive your education. Your ability to collaborate across disciplines makes you particularly valuable in workplaces and enables you to shape industries and redefine traditional approaches.
Why attend?
- Informative talks and breakout sessions, thatwill help yougain insights on the experiences and skills you can acquire during a year in industry.
- Explore how DPS placements work and how they support strong industry partnerships.
- Discover the various resources and support available to guide your DPS and professional development journey, such as student finance, and wellbeing and visas and compliance teams.
- Experience a showcase of work from DPS students that highlights the innovation developed during their placements.
- An opportunity to explore and discuss diverse placement opportunities, from a variety of organisations from wellknown global brands to charities and social enterprises.
Whether you're considering DPS or exploring other avenues for professional development, Flourish at CSM is the perfect opportunity to engage with staff, employers, alumni, and fellow students.
