Curated by Hywel Davies, CSM’s Fashion Programme Director and Akanksha Kamath, CSM MA Fashion Journalism alumni, a series of events at Soho House Mumbai brought together India’s fashion industry – to imagine better futures. Exploring, sustainability, craft, diversity and inclusion and digital opportunities, inspirational thought leaders shared knowledge and insights on how the global fashion industry is resetting its values.

LVMH Prize finalist Kartik Kumra in conversation with Akanksha Kamath discussed Indian craft, and global business strategy in an uncertain fashion landscape.

Veteran journalist Bandana Tewari, editor-at-large at Vogue India for 13 years and Varun Rana, a prolific writer for India’s luxury media discussed the role of India as an atelier for the global fashion industry, discussing Indian design and identifying new avenues to reframe sustainable and craft.

Nonita Kalra, ex editor-in-chief of Elle India explored diversity in fashion with models from two different generations. Mehr Jesia ushered in the age of the supermodel in the late 1980s for India’s fashion industry, while Amrit, a young model who has been the face of multiple campaigns including for Chanel beauty and Miu Miu explored the power of individuality and diversity.

The events at Soho House were organised in the run up to Lakme Fashion Week – India’s largest and official fashion week.
