Join London College of Fashion's, Fashion Business School for a series of online fashion talks asking fashion professionals to share their experiences and give insights on how the Covid-19 pandemic is impacting on the fashion industry.

10 June, 1pm (BST) | Fashion Means Business Talks: an insight into Finisterre’s sustainable business model

According to Business of Fashion higher prices and smaller scale production runs have traditionally kept sustainable brands outside the mainstream, however could that change with Covid-19, as customers have time to reflect on their consumption patterns and have more time to make conscious purchasing decisions?

This week we will be joined by Deborah Luffman, Product Director of the pioneering outdoor brand Finistere:

  • Established in 2003,Finisterre is a pioneering, sustainable outdoor brand, B Corps certified.
  • Deborah will discuss sustainable processes and procedures adopted by Finisterre and outline the challenges of delivering a functional, yet sustainable product range.
  • Deborah will share the positives of Covid-19 and the impact on Finisterre of the shift in consumer behaviour.

This week we will be joined by Flora Davidson from Supply Compass:

  • Supply Compass is a product development and production management platform that enables fashion brands and manufacturers to produce fashion collections collaboratively.
  • The cancelling of orders by fashion retailers has highlighted the power imbalance and inefficiencies in global supply chains.
  • Digitalisation of supply chains allows businesses to gain full visibility of production processes and promotes more sustainable production procedures driving efficiency and removing uncertainty
  • Flora will explore how the Covid-19 pandemic is acting as a catalyst for change in the management of supply chains across the fashion industry.

24 June, 12.30pm (BST) Fashion Means Business Talk: the role of data analytics post Covid-19

This week we will be joined by Andy Tudor and Allan Morris from Clekt and a team of data analysts:

  • Clekt is a UK data integration company, partnering with a range of experts in the latest eCommerce visual search techniques to specialists in price optimisation to the development of personalised customer experiences, making data more accessible for businesses.
  • Clekt’s vision is for data to drive decisions rather than data to back up decisions. In light of the disruption of the fashion industry caused by Covid-19.
  • Clekt will highlight the pressure that fashion businesses are under to be more digitally-savvy, in an attempt to better understand the market and to respond to consumer demand.
