On Wednesday 4 May, our 2020 and 2021 graduates celebrated their achievements at UAL’s first in-person ceremony after a 2-year hiatus.
Hundreds of undergraduates and postgraduates gathered at Southbank’s Royal Festival Hall to walk across the stage, listen to speeches by our student speakers and pose for photographs to document their special day.
The speakers for the day’s ceremonies included:
- Jida Akil for Central Saint Martins, BA Performance: Design and Practice graduate
- Eleanor Rockett for London College of Fashion, MA Fashion Design Management graduate
- Eduardo Barreto for London College of Communication, MA Screenwriting graduate
- Chinelo Queenie Chizea for Chelsea, Camberwell and Wimbledon College of Arts, BA Interior & Spatial Design graduate
Before stepping on stage, Jida told us:
“I feel so privileged as an international student to represent all my international friends that might not have been able to fly back and who I might not see for a long time – shout out to you all!”
“It’s been so lovely to celebrate at long last!” Eleanor shared excitedly.
“I finished my Masters in 2019, so I waited 2 and a half years for the privilege of graduating today. It’s so exciting to get back together with all my friends and course mates, and to be able to celebrate the amazing achievement that we graduated from LCF.”
Eduardo, the last speaker of the day, told us:
“It’s great to be here after a 2-year absence because of lockdown... I’ve kept myself busy! I’ve been writing screenplays and sent them to Hollywood and to British film producers. I haven’t seen my course mates for about 2 years, so later, I think we’re finally going to celebrate with a few bottles of champagne!”
We hope everyone enjoyed their special day with family and loved ones, and that you keep in touch with us by joining the UAL Alumni Family.
If you were unable to attend the ceremonies, you can watch the virtual ceremony recordings.
