We are excited to be launching the 'Feminist Internet Residency' as part of the first Feminist Internet Studio programme - Embodying Horizons.
Running for 6 weeks, from 30 October until 8 December 2023, the residency gives the opportunity for one current UAL student to develop their own project. The project will work in line with the program's research theme, questioning how we can incorporate queer and feminist practices into virtual realities.
The selected student will receive a payment of £500 to support their time on the residency, as well as receive weekly tutorials and extra support in the final weeks of the residency. In early 2024 they will have the opportunity to play an active role in the Embodying Horizons Symposium, during which they will share the process of their residency and their final outcome.
This is a unique opportunity, open to any current UAL student, to develop a project that investigates the arrival of virtual realities and the opportunities they might create. The project will explore queer and feminist practices so that we can ensure that virtual spaces don't replicate real-world harms.
No specific skills or prior knowledge is needed to apply. The residency is for any current UAL student who is interested in queer and feminist practices and the impact of technology in our society.
More information can be found in the Residency Pack (PDF 4 MB).
As well as the residency, Feminist Internet and CCI will deliver a series of workshops and reading groups in November, as well as a Symposium in early 2024 which will showcase the outcome of the residency and programme as well as conversations with partners.
