Biography
Kevin J. Brazant is a Senior Educational Developer at the London College of Communication (LCC) at the University of the Arts London (UAL). Kevin is an Encounter Artist and Cultural Systems Designer based in London, UK.His work sits at the intersection of educational enhancement, knowledge exchange, and inclusive curriculum design, with a particular focus on designing conditions that enable meaningful dialogue, participation, and change across institutional, civic, and cultural contexts.
Kevin’s practice is informed by his work as a Cultural Systems Designer, specialising in the design of encounters, frameworks, and environments that support collective sense-making, surface marginalised perspectives, and translate lived experience into actionable institutional insight. His approach centres on enabling productive dialogue between staff, students, and community partners, particularly where issues of power, representation, and belonging are present.
At UAL, Kevin manages the research and leads the award-winning LCC Change Makers’ initiative, a studentship partnership programme that supports co-creation, progression, and attainment through socially engaged projects. He is also the convenor of the Visualising Justice Collective, contributing to cross-disciplinary work that explores how visual culture can be used to examine, reframe and culturally translate questions of justice, equity, and social impact.
Kevin is a nominated member of the College Knowledge Exchange Committee, approved by the College Academic Committee. In this role, he advises the College Executive Group on matters relating to knowledge exchange strategy and governance, contributes to the implementation and review of UAL’s Knowledge Exchange Strategy at College level, and supports the development of strategic objectives, priorities, and KPIs. His work champions inclusive, community-informed approaches to knowledge exchange, with a focus on progression, attainment, and representation, and involves close collaboration with academic staff, KE Coordinators, Professors, and senior leadership across the College.
Alongside his institutional role, Kevin is the founder of Lounge Akademics™, an independent research and cultural platform that explores the public application of inclusive co-creation models, critical pedagogy, and cultural dialogue. Through this platform, he examines how educational thinking can operate beyond formal academic settings, informing civic engagement, cultural innovation, and public discourse.
Kevin began his career in the media and creative industries after graduating with a BA in Communication Studies from Middlesex University. He was awarded a scholarship to the National Television and Film School (NFTS), where he trained in documentary filmmaking and produced the award-winning film Unheard Voices, which explored the experiences of young fathers in the UK. This work formed the basis of subsequent knowledge exchange activity with local authorities and community organisations, influencing approaches to professional training and engagement with fathers facing complex social challenges.
His work in visual ethnography and storytelling has contributed to broader conversations about masculinity, care, and representation, and has been featured across national media, including BBC 1Xtra, The Evening Standard, Look Magazine, and BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour.
Kevin is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE (SFHEA) and continues to develop practice-led research that connects education, culture, and systems change.
