Biography
I have worked in fashion for more than 30 years at various levels. My experience began in the industry; evolved into education teaching, training, development; middle management and fashion and cultural research.I have an MA in Education, Culture, Language and Identity, a BA (Hons) degree in fashion studies, post-graduate certificates in education (PGCE) for post-compulsory education and training, with the specialism in art and design; and a PGCE with qualified teacher status (QTS) for secondary school design and technology. I have also successfully completed training in management development, CVQ Assessment, and certificate in Recognition of Prior Learning Assessment.
My business activities include design and production of apparel for bespoke clients as well as small runs for boutiques. I have conducted in-house training, enrichment programmes and internships for school pupils. Additional services included fashion design, `pattern and garment construction for other designers. Industrial activities include Sample machining larger fashion houses, including, Amanda Wakely, Jenny Packam, Jasper Conran, French Connection, Nicole Farhi and Jasmine De Milo.
I have participated in a number of shows, exhibitions and trade missions including; South London Export club - business enterprise shows, Barbados Expo – London, Profile Fashion and Accessories Show - London Fashion Forum, Sewing for Pleasure – International craft show at National Exhibition Centre (NEC), Birmingham and UK Trade and Industry trade missions to four Caribbean Islands.
I have provided consultancy services for a number of organizations as a fashion expert for education/training and entrepreneurial projects.
My core skills include:
Product design, production, and marketing for textile with CAD, resistant materials, food, graphic product, and ICT.
