Paid opportunity to share your creative journey with Generative AI

UAL and the Council for Higher Education in Art & Design invite all current UAL students to present your ideas, projects and reflections on how you are creating, critiquing and evaluating the use of Generative AI in your creative practice.
We will be joining together for a day long online conference which provides a unique opportunity to showcase your work, connect with peers and educators, and shape the conversation about AI’s role in art and design education.
All selected students will be compensated through Arts Temps for the time spent preparing and presenting.
When is the event?
The online event will be on Wednesday 22 April 2026, 10am–3pm.
What are the themes?
We welcome submissions from students that address 1 or more of these themes:
- Creative Synergies: How are you using AI tools to enhance your art and design processes?
- Teaching Tomorrow: What skills and mindsets will prepare you for future employment in the creative industries?
- Ethics and Environmental Impact: What are the ethical implications of using AI in your creative work?
- Critical Thinking: How do we cultivate critical thinking so that you do not bypass learning opportunities and look at the potential benefits of using AI in this context?
- Equity in Education: How can you use AI to create inclusive and accessible learning environments e.g. Cost of AI tools or Open Source AI tools?
- Assessment and Feedback: How might your use of AI transform assessment, crits and student-driven evaluation?
What are the available presentation formats?
Students can present within any of these formats:
- Presentations of Practice – An individual 10-minute talk with a 5–10 minute Q&A
- Students in Conversations – 2 students discussing their work during a 10-minute discussion with a 5–10 min Q&A
- Student Panels – Up to 5 students who each give a 5-minute talk with a group 10–15 min Q&A
- Storytelling Session – 15 min creative visual storytelling with a 5–10 min Q&A
How can I submit?
Use this submission form to submit. Submissions close Monday 27 March 2026 at 10am.
You will be asked to provide contact details as well as:
- Presentation title
- Presentation format
- A brief description of your presentation (100 word maximum)
- A link to an audio or visual artefact relating to your presentation
- Name/email of a tutor who can attest to your work
How much will I be paid?
Selected students will be paid through Arts Temps at Rate 2 (£22.91 an hour) for 4 hours. You will be paid after attendance at a one-hour meeting and the delivery of your presentation on the event day.
What happens after the event?
Selected students will be invited to contribute a written piece for a special publication distributed across the UK art and design education sector.
