UCAS Extra guide

What is UCAS Extra?

UCAS Extra is a free service that allows you to apply for undergraduate courses, if you've already used up your original 5 choices.

If you want to join us this autumn but you haven't got a place or you’ve changed your mind about what to study, UCAS Extra is the route for you.

You can apply through UCAS Extra until 30 June 2026 at 6pm (UK time). Any applications after this date will need to be through UCAS Clearing.

Who can use UCAS Extra?

UK and international students can use UCAS Extra.

If you’re an international student and you haven't completed a UCAS application yet, you can contact one of our in-country representatives for additional help.

How to apply through UCAS Extra

1. Find a course

2. Check the entry requirements

Check the entry requirements on the ‘How to apply’ section of your course.

Remember, many practice-based courses ask for a digital portfolio as part of your application.

3. Apply through UCAS Hub

4. Check your emails

Once you’ve added your extra course choice on the UCAS Hub, UCAS will send it through to us at UAL.

You’ll then receive a confirmation email containing your login details for the UAL Portal. We'll then email you if we need you to provide additional information.

Make sure you check your spam or junk folders, in case emails from us go into spam.

What happens next?

Once we have reviewed and assessed your application, we'll communicate a decision to you via your UCAS Hub.

If you wish to contact our admissions team regarding your application, you can do this on your UAL Portal.
