Extracting pigments from fungi as renewable alternatives to non-renewable conventional colourants.
Alchemical Mycology researches and explores the potential impact and utilisation of pigments extracted from biofabricated fungi, with the objective of creating a suite of renewable, non-toxic, biodegradable colourants. Available in a unique range of colours, these natural and biofabricated pigments will be used commercially to colour consumer goods, with a particular focus on textile, food, and cosmetic applications. The technology has the potential to reduce, or ultimately replace, our dependence on and use of non-renewable colourants from fossil fuels or mined minerals by introducing fungi as a source of sustainable and cost-effective colourants.
