Your assignment will provide you with a firm grounding in the practical production of contemporary performance. You will have the chance to perform in a short production (inspired by the works of a scripted published text), incorporating a variety of contemporary acting techniques.

Your lead tutor will take the role as Director, and your group will be known as the Creative Cohort, with each member taking on specialist roles to present as part of the groups informal sharing (or showcase) at the end of your course.

Through a series of dynamic workshops centred around 3 key skills,

  • Acting which may involve text analysis, context and research skills, as well as understanding the rehearsal process
  • Movement which may involve character moves, posture and space, being present within both independent and group situations
  • Voice which may involve vocal exercise, singing lessons, projection and interpretation, whilst also exploring audience engagement

The informal sharing will serve as a showcase for your work, allowing you to demonstrate the benefits of working in an integrated performance environment adopting contemporary approaches to acting.
