University of the Arts London (UAL) is pleased to announce that 4 students have been selected for the 2026 British Council Venice Fellowships Programme at the 61st International Art Exhibition, one of the world’s most significant art events.
Representing London College of Communication, Central Saint Martins and the UAL Decolonising Arts Institute, the fellows will spend one month in Venice supporting the British Pavilion exhibition while developing their own research and creative practice.
The 2026 British Pavilion exhibition, Predicting History: Testing Translation, is by UAL alumna and Turner Prize winner Lubaina Himid CBE, who studied BA (Hons) Theatre Design at Wimbledon College of Arts, connecting current students to one of the UK’s most influential contemporary artists on an international stage.
The British Council Venice Fellowships Programme brings together emerging creatives from across UK higher education, offering the opportunity to develop practice, build international networks and engage global audiences. Selection reflects the strength of UAL’s student community and its commitment to shaping the next generation of artists, designers and researchers.
This year, UAL’s presence in Venice extends beyond the fellowships. Maria McLintock, Associate Lecturer at Central Saint Martins and London College of Communication, is part of the UK’s curatorial team for the British Pavilion, as part of a UK-Malaysian collaboration at the Venice Architecture Biennale.
Meet the 4 Fellows
Tara Lumley-Savile | London College of Communication
Tara Lumley-Savile is a recent MA Photojournalism and Documentary Photography graduate at London College of Communication. Her work centres on socially engaged photography and collaborative storytelling, exploring heritage, identity and community through research-led image-making.
Inspired by Lubaina Himid’s work on racism, colonial histories and climate change, I will develop a photography and participatory storytelling project with the migrant choir Voci dal Mondo in Mestre, exploring how these forces intersect in this often-overlooked part of Venice.
Oindrilla Sinha | London College of Communication
Oindrilla Sinha is a UX designer and multidisciplinary creative studying MA User Experience Design at London College of Communication. Her work explores how people experience the world through systems, technology and socio-cultural perspectives, with a focus on inclusive and decolonised design.
My project is part of an ongoing inquiry into what brings people together. I’m interested in how shared encounters with art and design can act as a tool to connect with people who are different from us.
Yusuke Kuriki | Central Saint Martins / UAL Decolonising Arts Institute
Yusuke Kuriki is an MA Fine Art student at Central Saint Martins, working across painting, sculpture and installation, His practice explores how materials respond under conditions such as containment, compression and suspension, creating unstable shifting states.
Meg Bagnall | Central Saint Martins / Decolonising Arts Institute
Meg Bagnall is an MRes Art: Exhibition Studies student at Central Saint Martins and UAL Decolonising Arts Institute fellow, working across curating, performance and research. Their work explores exhibitions as embodied environments and the often-unseen infrastructures of cultural spaces.
My fellowship project is primarily interested in the hidden labour of the Biennale. How quiet bodies manoeuvre through the place where the art world is at its most concentrated, contested, and self-conscious
