Biography

I am a graphic communication researcher-practitioner and lecturer.

My creative practice as a graphic designer has led to collaborations with charities, non-profits, artists and makers. Previous professional posts within arts and cultural institutions including the Natural History Museum London, Imperial War Museums and independent design agency HKD in Margate, Kent have provided space to explore social, ecological and scientific contexts through the design of exhibitions and public environments.

As a PhD candidate in the School of Communication at the Royal College of Art, I research the ways in which allotments and growing spaces are practiced and experienced, by those who occupy them. My study develops a method of mark-making and open conversation within relational collaborative acts alongside members of allotment and growing communities.

In 2023 I concluded work on the Interreg Europe funded research and innovation project ‘Empowering Youth through Entrepreneurial Skills’ (EYES). Working with project partners across North-West Europe, we co-developed a training approach and tools to assist social workers and volunteers to support marginalised groups, enabling greater access to resources and training in their regions.

Since 2022, I have been part of the research trio ‘joinedupwriting’, working to explore and develop methodologies for collaborative creative writing through practice-based workshops.
