UAL Creative Computing Institute

Undergraduate study

UAL Creative Computing Institute (CCI) is where artists, designers, and technologists learn to build ethical, inclusive and human-centred technologies. If you see the world differently and want to use technology as your canvas, this is your place.

Kickstart your career in tech

Our undergraduate courses blend computer science with artistic exploration, giving you the freedom to experiment, invent, and disrupt the norm.

From intelligent robotics and ethical AI to data science and creative coding, CCI offers 4 undergraduate degrees that combine the rigour of computing with the freedom of creative experimentation.

Join us in September 2026 and build both the technical and soft skills sought after in industry.

Why choose CCI?

  • Part of a top 2 university for Art and Design (QS Rankings by Subject 2025).
  • Ranked 3rd in London and 12th in the UK for Computer Science (The Guardian, 2025).
  • Interdisciplinary courses merging creativity and technology.
  • A commitment to digital inclusion, diversity, and social good.
  • State-of-the-art labs, studios, and maker spaces in vibrant London.
  • Our Computer Science, Data Science and AI and Creative Computing degrees all have the option of being a 4-year degree if you're unsure whether you're ready for a degree. Year 0 will build your confidence in art and computing before starting your first year.
When I first visited the university, I noticed how warm and approachable the lecturers were. They encouraged curiosity and asking questions, which created an atmosphere that felt very supportive and positive. That combination of creativity and openness really convinced me this was the right place for me.

How do I apply?

We want you to feel confident throughout the application process. Find out how to apply for your chosen course with our guide to applying for an undergraduate course.

The UCAS deadline for entry in September 2026 is 14 January 2026 at 6pm (UK time).

Where would I study?

Our courses in creative computing and robotics are taught at our southeast London locations, 45-65 Peckham Road and Greencoat Building on Wilson Road.

Computer Science and Data Science and AI courses are taught at our site in High Holborn.

CCI students can access the workshops and facilities across our buildings as well as community digital creative space The Hub at Eagle Wharf.

Where would I live?

Ranked in the world's top 3 locations in the 2026 QS Best Student Cities list, it’s no wonder that thousands of students from across the globe choose to study in London.

With underground, train and bus systems spanning the city, you can live close to the campus your course is based in or live in another area and commute to class.

UAL has halls of residence across London and can also offer advice on privately-rented accommodation. Explore our accommodation options and find out about life in halls.

What equipment will I need?

All our courses are part of a computing curriculum, so computing is our primary tool/medium. Whilst advantageous to have your own computer, it is not a requirement as you can borrow a laptop at all CCI locations for use anywhere on that site. Desktop PCs are also available in open-access and technical areas.

You can find more details on the recommended kit list for CCI students on the CCI Wiki, as well as more information on CCI resources, buildings and technical workshops.
