We’re excited to present our first Origins Creatives workshop: Getting ready to submit with Monica Biagioli, our Origins Creatives exhibition curator and Senior Lecturer in Design Innovation at London College of Communication. We've programmed this free online workshop to help you (our students) with submitting work for the showcase this year. You will gain a better understanding of the showcase platforms available, how to submit the best work for each platform and which one might suit you best. Monica will be selecting the works that make it to the showcase, so this session will give you a great opportunity to find out how to make your work stand out.

The session will start with a brief overview of our plans for exhibiting work online. Monica will then talk you through the submissions process for the showcase and discuss the various types of work we will be accepting this year, as well as the platform they’ll be presented on. Submissions are open to students from all UAL Awarding body qualifications and we strongly encourage students from all subject areas to submit work. Monica will also give insights into what she'll be looking out for when making the final selections for the showcase, such as how to create content that conveys meaning with impact and how to clearly communicate your creative process.

This section will be followed by a series of interactive exercises where you will be asked to consider:

What might you want to exhibit and why?

What do you want to express or demonstrate through the work you exhibit?

What makes you passionate about this topic or theme?

What is your fascination with this particular process?

How have you mastered tools and techniques in this piece?

What are your interests in this particular area of creative practice?

We want you to submit the work you are most proud of and at the same time take advantage of the possibility of using your work to communicate with audiences. This interactive workshop will help you to consider who you would like to see your work and what you would like them to think and feel when they see it.

Booking is now open via Eventbrite. Spaces are limited, so we recommend booking in advance to guarantee a place.
