A screening of Kahlil Joseph’s BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions, adapted from the artist’s video exhibition BLKNWS.

Join us at London College of Fashion for a screening of Kahlil Joseph’s BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions, presented through The Index Gap™ Presents and supported by GEMS.

Previously presented at the 69th BFI London Film Festival in October 2025, with screenings at BFI Southbank, the ICA and Curzon Soho, the film returned to London in early 2026 for a month-long theatrical residency at The Underground Cinema at 180 Studios, where it was shown alongside Joseph’s original BLKNWS video installation.

Adapted from Kahlil Joseph’s renowned video art installation, BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions is a distinctive cinematic experience that mirrors the sonic textures of a record album, weaving fiction and history into an immersive journey. Fictionalised figures of W. E. B. Du Bois and Marcus Garvey appear alongside artists, musicians, Joseph’s family and even Twitter chats, creating a layered vision of Black consciousness.

Following the screening, we’ll have a short informal conversation and share the official BLKNWS Study Pack an open-source cultural research toolkit and living syllabus exploring Black truth, representation, media, AI and algorithms, lived experience, art, archives and community memory.
