Black History Month: Letterpress workshop

This event is for LCC students only, a valid UAL ID card will be needed to enter the site and attend.

Inspired by the words and legacies of influential Black figures, you’ll have the opportunity to create your own printed postcards featuring quotes that celebrate Black creativity, knowledge, resilience and community.

The workshop will introduce you to the basics of letterpress, as you will be taught how to typeset a quote of your choice. A selection of quotes will be provided for you to choose from, but please also feel free to bring your own quotes (max 10 words)

Each participant will print a number of postcards to take home and contribute to a collection that will be made available in LCC Reception for others to take with them throughout Black History Month.

No previous printing experience is needed. Please wear workshop appropriate clothing and close toed shoes (i.e. trainers)

This workshop is an opportunity to slow down, get creative, meet others and reflect on the ways words, stories and shared experiences can bring a community together.

Come along, make something by hand, and leave a little piece of your creativity behind for someone else to find!
