Domaine de Boisbuchet integrates innovative architecture and design into the splendid setting of a 19th century French country estate, offering a unique creative and collaborative environment for people of all cultures to share. Boisbuchet's intensive workshop programmes invest deeply in cultures that respect the past and build for the future, at the same time stimulating research that promotes a more sustainable relationship between the natural and the man-made.

Programme overview:

The Department of Seaweed – Algae encounters

Algae offer hope as a material for making, as a super food, and as ways to rebalance marine ecosystems.

In this workshop we invite you to join the Department of Seaweed and delve into the tangle, exploring seaweed futures through hands-on experiments and communal reflection. We will share a range of techniques for working with algae in art, craft and design and produce objects and accessories together. During that process, we will talk about bio-materials and their ethics, ocean literacy and regenerative design.

We welcome everyone to the diverse work with algae and discussions about these special creatures, which most likely themselves will show us the best ways to deal with them.

The workshop will be facilitated by Julia Lohmann and Violaine Buet.
