Community Consultation is a participatory forum theatre project that explores how communities respond to environmental change.

Community Consultation is a forum theatre project that makes the consultation process itself the object of scrutiny, examining how environmental decisions are communicated, negotiated, and contested. The session begins with a short devised performance set in a community facing a compounding environmental crisis, where climate change and plastic pollution intersect with limited resources, competing priorities, and uncertain futures.

Audiences become active participants rather than passive observers. They are invited to stop the action, step into roles, and suggest alternative responses to the challenges presented. Participants might take on the perspectives of residents, workers, community organisers, or local decision-makers, experimenting with different forms of action and collective problem-solving.

Through participation and dialogue, this performance encourages audiences to consider questions of responsibility, resilience, and agency, while reflecting on the wider systems that shape environmental outcomes. By creating space for experimentation and debate, the project highlights both the possibilities and limitations of individual and collective action in responding to environmental change.
