You are invited to take part in this embodied research workshop.

What if atmosphere can be a framework to understand the relationality between our bodies, our clothes, and the environment in which we are ‘emplaced’? We invite practitioners interested in reflecting on how we, as ‘dressed-bodies’, are made by climates and can imagine future climates through wearing and designing clothes. Drawing on ideas of ‘weathering’, ‘transcorporeality’, and ‘sensorial fashion’, the participatory activity moves within weather: an outdoor session of embodied exercises and walking scores, followed by a speculative creative moment in which to imagine and design fashion in atmospheric ways. Participants will be invited to question their design approaches and methodologies, starting from the body and the historical climate in which we live. Together, we will try to reframe the practices of wearing and designing as spaces in which to exercise ecological attunement.

About the workshop leader: ATMOSPHERIC FASHION PRACTICES Designer and researcher, Giulia is a PhD student in the field of critical fashion design and ecologies at Iuav Università di Venezia. She is currently carrying out a doctoral project - in partnership with Muse Museo delle Scienze di Trento - that inquires on atmospheric fashion practices as tools for environmental attunement. In her practice-led work she observes the relationality between bodies, clothes and climates through processes of making and designing carried outdoors and through participatory activities. Her approach questions traditional methodologies rooted in dualist perspectives and extractive systems, seeking to reframe fashion as a space to cultivate regenerative ways of navigating the world.
