Course description

Course overview

This dynamic short course offers an engaging introduction to illustration, with a strong emphasis on hand drawing as a core skill. You’ll explore a variety of image-making approaches including drawing, collage and printmaking, learning how to create expressive, original work beyond digital tools.

You’ll gain insight into the diverse realm of illustration, such as editorial, fashion, advertising and visual storytelling. You’ll also explore how inspiration from the world around you can inform your work, helping you develop your own creative voice.

Through practical activities, guided projects and creative briefs, you’ll work to develop your drawing skills and visual confidence, and be encouraged to experiment with different styles, materials and formats to produce a range of work. The course culminates in a final portfolio piece, where you’ll apply your new skills using a technique of your choice.
