Course overview
On this introductory fashion history course, you will discover the key moments in Western dress history and theory over 300 years. With a focus on Fashion and Style from the 18th Century French Court, through the Revolution, Regency, Victorian and Edwardian eras and how the social, political and economic backdrop to fashion completely changed in the 20th Century. This course will encourage you to investigate “Fashion” and “Style” from different perspectives and find your own personal research focus. Students will also have time to conduct their own historical research and present to the class.
