Post-Grad Community Ambassador Charmaine Wah (2025, MA Curating and Collections, Chelsea College of Arts) recently led an event at PEER Gallery, taking a group of students to explore the current exhibition and discuss how the exhibit informed their own work.

In a collaboration between Post-Grad Community, PEER gallery and MA Curating and Collections (MACC) students from Chelsea, postgrads recently visited Onyeka Igwe’s solo exhibition, history is a living weapon in yr hand, featuring her film, A Radical Duet (2023).

As part of the visit, Ellen Grieg, director of PEER, kindly shared with us the mission and values of the non-for-profit free-to-access space located in the neighbourhood of Hoxton in East London.

Charmaine Wah, Nis Murat and Stephanie Colclough of MACC shared how their teams collectively curated and organised a series of public programming to support Onyeka Igwe’s exhibition, in the form of a physical and digital map of Black British heritage sites in London, a blue plaque workshop for seniors, an archival research workshop and a panel discussion on Black British film and activism.

In an open group sharing, the attending postgraduates warmly shared how the film was relevant to their own creative practices, in addressing decolonisation, archival practices and creating public programming to further discourse beyond exhibitions.
