Moodle
Moodle is the online home for your course. You’ll use your Moodle dashboard to:
- access course material
- take part in activities such as discussions and online seminars
- submit assessments
- find important information about your course.
Your Moodle sites will be available to you after you have fully enrolled. You'll have access to a Course site and individual sites for each of your Units.
Access the libraries
As a UAL student you can access all our libraries. The libraries offer open access and bookable study spaces with computers, photocopying and printing facilities. You can also borrow a laptop and get help from the library staff to develop your research or digital skills.

Special collections and archives
The libraries have outstanding physical and digital collections spanning art, design, communication, fashion and performance. These include historical archives and special collections such as zines, material samples and artists’ books.

Buying books and materials
Your course may send you a kit list so you can buy any required items in advance. But for many courses you won’t need to buy anything before you start, you’ll receive a book and course supply list during your first week of classes.
We recommend waiting until you’ve been notified that you’re eligible to enrol before buying any course materials. Many items will be available to buy from UAL arts shops located at College sites, or can be borrowed from the libraries.
Laptops
You should have a laptop suitable for your course. If you’re studying a media or digitally focused subject you may require a more powerful device.
If you don’t have access to a laptop, you can borrow one from the libraries. If you’re experiencing financial hardship, you may also be able to apply for financial support to help with equipment costs.
Share any health or disability requirements
UAL’s Disability Service help arrange adjustments and support for your studies.
They offer advice before you begin your course and at any stage of your student journey. Contact the team if you think you may benefit from support or adjustments.
The team work with many students, including those with:
- dyslexia or another neurodiversity
- a sensory impairment
- a physical impairment
- a long-term health or mental health condition
- autism
- another long-term condition which has an impact on your day-to-day life.

Get Ready activities and events help you get to know the other students on your course and practise study skills that will help you succeed at UAL.

English Language support
If you have English as a second language, our teams are here to help you develop your language and intercultural skills. So that you can gain confidence studying and working in the UK.
