Arrival essentials
There's lots to think about and do as you begin your journey with us at UAL. Here are the key tasks you’ll need to complete to get started.
1. Set up your email and UAL network account
Once you’ve accepted your offer to study with us, you’ll need to set up your UAL email address to enrol as a student.
We’ll send instructions:
- to the personal email address you used to apply
- about 10 weeks before starting your course
- when you have firmly accepted your place.
Once you have accepted your place you will gain access to the account within 72 hours.
Your UAL email is where you’ll receive important updates about your studies, course, and time at UAL, so you must check it regularly.
If you have problems logging in to your UAL email and network account, contact IT Services for help.
2. Enrol
You must enrol each academic year to officially join or continue your course.
As part of enrolment at UAL, you'll be asked to complete online registration. You'll need to give information about fees and funding as well as any visa you may need to study in London.
Pay fees or confirm funding
Before you start your studies, it is important to know how to pay your tuition fees and what sort of funding options might be available.
Tuition fees
Tuition fees cover the cost of studying. They vary depending on your course level (i.e. undergraduate or postgraduate) and your fee status (home or international).
Check your tuition fees. If you have questions about your fee status, reply to your offer email or contact the Student Advice Service.
How to pay your tuition fees
Find out how to pay your tuition fees. You’ll be asked to confirm your funding or pay your fees when you enrol onto your course. Options include direct payments, student loans or through a sponsor via pro-forma invoice.

The Student Advice team provides students with information and advice about funding options available to cover tuition fees, living costs and course costs.

Immigration and visas
If you're joining us from a country outside of the UK, you are likely to need visa or immigration permission allowing you to live and study in the UK. Before you travel, check what requirements there are and that you have applied for the right type of study visa for your needs.

Check your details in your UAL Portal
The UAL Portal gives you access to key information about your enrolment status and assessments throughout your time at UAL. View your personal information and download status letters under ‘My Study Details’.
Keep your contact details up to date
If your contact details or personal information change, please update them as soon as possible.
Access your UAL Portal. Log in using your UAL email and password.
3. Find out when your first session is
Make sure you know when your first session or course induction takes place.
Term dates and the start of your course vary depending on your level of study. Take a look at UAL standard term dates.
- Check your UAL email to see if we’ve contacted you about any events for your course.
- Check your timetable to see when your first class is.
Access your timetable
You can see your current timetable online in a variety of ways: choose what works for you.
4. Collect your ID card
You'll need your student ID card to access our sites, buildings and facilities.
Each College or Institute has dedicated collection dates and locations for ID card collection.
5. Get ready to check into your classes
Most UAL students use SEAtS (Student Engagement and Attendance System) to track their attendance.
You’ll use the SEAtS Mobile app to check yourself into lectures, seminars and other monitored sessions. You can also request authorised absences.

SEAtS Mobile app only shows classes where attendance is monitored, so keep using CELCAT or Outlook to view your full timetable. If you’re not sure which classes are monitored, ask your course team.
6. Get your IT connected
IT Services look after your UAL account, your email, computers, printing and online security.

They’re available 24/7, 365 days a year.
Wi-Fi
You can connect to UAL-Wi-Fi across all our sites. Select the UAL Wi-Fi network and log in using your UAL username and password.
Printing
You’ll find printers across College locations, including all libraries and learning zones. There are many ways to print - you can even print from your mobile device or from an off-site location.
View and top-up your printing credit online. There’s also a handy ‘Print credits’ tile on the MyUAL app.
7. Download the free MyUAL app
MyUAL is our free student app, with all the essential info you need in one place. It contains your UAL email, timetable, events, jobs and news. Log in using your UAL account details once you've enrolled.
We also use app alerts to let you know about incidents that may impact you – such as IT issues or building closures. Turn your notifications on so you don’t miss anything!
