Temperatures are forecast to reach close to 40°C in the coming days. A red weather warning has been issued for London on Wednesday and Thursday. There is also an amber warning in place until Friday evening 26 June. These conditions may impact comfort while travelling and working.

We have already experienced periods of high temperatures recently and these conditions are likely to continue over the Summer. Students are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the Heatwave: How to cope in hot weather guidance on the NHS website including how to recognise the symptoms of dehydration, heat stress and heat exhaustion.

Some course teaching sessions may be rescheduled due to the extreme heat, please check Moodle for updates.

Where high temperatures may affect course delivery, academic and technical colleagues may consider rescheduling teaching sessions or workshops, or making alternative arrangements where appropriate to support staff and student wellbeing. If Course Teams need to reschedule teaching or workshops, our Course Support Team will communicate changes to you via Moodle.

Travel and wellbeing advice

  • Stay hydrated and carry water with you if you can, especially when travelling on public transport
  • Check your routes before travelling via the TFL website or the TFL Go app as travel disruption is expected
  • Speak to your Course Team if you have concerns about travelling to College, for example due to possible disruption, caring responsibilities, or if someone you support is vulnerable to heat

If you have questions or concerns Student Services are here to support you.
