Cycling is a great way to get around London. It’s economical, it’s good exercise and it’s good for the environment! However, it’s very important for your and others’ safety that you keep your bike well maintained. We’re pleased to announce that Cycle Confident will be conducting free ‘Dr Bike’ sessions for UAL students this winter.

When are the sessions taking place?

The free repair sessions will take place at CSM and they are available to all UAL students.

The sessions will take place:

  • 9am – 2pm, Thursday 13 October
  • 2 – 7pm, Wednesday 16 November

Where do I need to go to get my bike inspected or repaired?

The sessions will operate on a drop-in basis, meaning you don’t need to book a time slot and can just turn up with your bike. These sessions will operate in The Crossing.

What can Dr Bike fix at these sessions?

There will be experienced mechanics present who can check everything on your bike from wheels, brakes, gears and tyre pressure to lights, racks, pedals, saddles and more. Minor adjustments can be made to the bike on the day. For larger fixes that can’t be done on site, you will be advised exactly what needs to be done and given a rough guide to what it should cost at a bike shop. The mechanics are friendly and approachable, with a wealth of cycling knowledge so we encourage you to speak to them about cycle training or other cycling activities if you need advice.

You can also book a Cycle Safety training session through Cycle Confident. These are normally one-on-one sessions or small groups that last up to two hours. Many London boroughs offer free or subsidised cycle training if you live, work or study in the borough so be sure to check in with your local authority.
