To bring together and support UAL’s Black student creative community, the Black Creatives Hub partnered with Arts SU’s African Caribbean Society to host a vibrant networking social at Central Saint Martins. Held on Tuesday 21 April, the event created a welcoming space for students from Africa, the Caribbean and the wider diaspora to connect, share experiences and build meaningful relationships.
Students came together from across the University to network, collaborate and engage in conversation, with the goal that attendees left feeling more connected, confident and motivated to take the next steps in their creative journeys.
Speakers
We were joined by:
- Ade Bamgbala – award-winning Creative Producer and founder of Blacticulate Ltd, specialising in podcast production and amplifying Black stories
- Venus Ashu – writer, photographer and social creative whose work explores Black experience, culture and identity across stage, screen and visual storytelling
Building connections and sharing experiences
Through an engaging panel and Q&A, speakers shared insights into their creative careers, reflecting on their journeys since graduating and offering their perspectives on navigating the industry.
The session was followed by an interactive icebreaker and a mixer, where attendees connected over refreshments and games. This setting created space for meaningful conversations, allowing students to expand their networks and engage directly with peers and alumni in a relaxed environment.
The Black Creatives Hub continues to grow as a space to explore, collaborate and champion Black representation in the creative industries.
