Biography
Sarah Selby is a London-based visual artist and academic whose work critically examines digital culture through the innovative use of new media technologies, including artificial intelligence, DNA data storage, and augmented reality. She is currently exploring creative applications of quantum computing through her collaboration with the Goethe Institute, as part of her ongoing research into the intersection of art, science, and technology.Sarah studied Interactive Arts at Manchester Metropolitan University before joining the Computational Arts MA at Goldsmiths, University of London. She is particularly interested in interdisciplinary collaboration, which has led to successful partnerships with institutions such as the University of Cambridge's Psychometrics Centre, the biotechnology company Twist Bioscience, and the forensic sciences at King's College London. Her work has gained international recognition, with exhibitions at venues such as arebyte, Science Gallery London, and Control Shift.
She was awarded the Lumen Prize 2023 in the 3D/Interactive category for her artwork Between the Lines, which also received an honorable mention for the S+T+ARTS Prize. As a senior lecturer based in UAL's Creative Computing Institute, Sarah has expertise in physical computing, robotics, brain-computer interfaces, coding (Python, JavaScript, Arduino), and machine learning.
