Biography

Senior Lecturer, BA Fine Art Painting, Camberwell College of Arts.

I am particularly interested in supervising PhD’s in the following research areas; The Expanded Field of Painting, Practice-based research in Painting, Visual Art and Curation, Painting - its histories and theories, Paintings relationship with performance, Conversations between painting, textiles, clothing and costume.

Painted Garments - On the 22nd May 2026, I will co-convene with my colleague Dr Tom Cardwell, a Public Symposium that addresses the relationships between Painting, Textiles and Fasion. Keynotes and Speakers: Delaine Le Bas (Keynote) and Dr Rosalind McKever (Keynote), Prof Craig Staff, Amrita Dhallu, Dr Helen Westgeest, Caroline Herma, Dr Timea Andrea Lelik, Keidra Navaroli, Prof Marian Mazzone, The Neo Naturists (Christine Binnie and Wilma Johnson) and Dr Anne Reimers.

Bauhaus - Recently, through a residency forged through a collaboration with UAL, Camberwell and The Bauhaus Foundation, I undertook research into the Bauhaus Stage pedagogy and its relationship to the Bauhaus Painting Workshop pedagogy. Following this, with Camberwell students and staff staged performances, dinners, happenings at The Bauhaus Museum Dessau, Germany.


Education:
I received my MFA Painting at the Slade School of Fine Art in 2010 and my PhD from the University of Leeds in 2017. My PhD thesis is titled Durational Painting; Gifting, Grafting, Hosting, Collaborating.

Exhibitions:
I exhibited in the 2026 - Biennale Internazionale Donna, curated by Riccardo Rizzetto titled Bohemia Lies by the Sea, Practising Discontinuity, Imagining Otherwise. Trieste, Italy. I have presented work at major international arts institutions; Palais de Tokyo (Paris), Royal Academy of Arts (London), BALTIC 39, (Newcastle), The Bauhaus Museum, (Dessau), The Museum of London, Newlyn Gallery, (Cornwall), The Armory Centre, (California). Recent exhibitions include; 'In all places, in all times, somehow...', 2025 Gallery 36 Newcastle, 'Miniaturing', 2024, (solo) M2 Gallery, London, ‘Erotic Ecologies’, 2024, APT Gallery, London, 'Time & Tenderness', 2024, Daniel Katz Gallery, London curated by Jenn Ellis and Xenia Creative Retreat, 'Is the image even human?', 2023, Cervantes Institute, New Dehli, 'TERRA', curated by Jenn Ellis, Burgundy France, 2023, 'Not Painting, 2021', Copperfield Gallery, 'Afterimage', 2021, Blyth Gallery, Imperial College, London.
