Joshua Green

Biography

Josh Green is a PhD researcher at Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London, and a designer at Mettle Design Studio, where he specialises in the design of complex digital products and services. His research investigates how AI-based algorithmic systems shape everyday public life, drawing on ontological design theory, critical design, and participatory design to develop methods for collectively examining and contesting algorithmic power. His PhD develops the concept of algorithmic scenes, situated moments where algorithmic logics collide with embodied human activity, and uses participatory mapping and critical visualisation to work with technologically excluded publics toward alternative algorithmic futures.
