Biography
Fari Bradley is an artist working in sculpture, performance and broadcast. Themes in Bradley's practice are:- our environment
- the art of communication
- the politics and philosophy of listening
- audibility in human rights
With a background in music, languages and literature, Bradley studied classical Euro-American and North Indian classical music.
Graduating in Italian Studies for Bachelors of Arts at UCL (University College London) Bradley moved to UK as a child speaking only Persian.
Since 2010 Bradley's research-based arts practice focuses on society and our surroundings, and her current PhD studies (now in the final year) problematise Smart City futures.
A weekly broadcaster on Resonance104.4FM (2005-2018), Bradley performed and composed with the Resonance Radio Orchestra,
Composition works by Bradley are released on vinyl, CD and as digital works on Sub Rosa, The Vinyl Factory, Morphine Records and more.
Bradley's published chapter on "Post-Speaker sound art" on materiality in Sound Art is in The Oxford Handbook of Sound Art (2023). Bradley also has a passage in "Woman, Life, Freedom: Voices and Art from the Women's Protests in Iran" published by Saqi Books, with magazine-style arts and culture reviews on platforms such as BBC3, BBC4 and in print (The Wire Magazine and more).
Bradley's performances include "Inside-Outside", 2020 at Savvy Contemporary, Berlin, Scaledown, and many more.
Bradley's recent works take the textile element of prior sculptures into a wearable practice, revolving around activism.
In her solo and joint practice Bradley has resided and exhibited around South and West Asia, the Levant, Europe and the UK.
