Award-winning artist Nigel Hall has exhibited in over 100 solo shows across the world.

Nigel Hall was granted his first solo show whilst studying at the West of England College of Art, from 1960 to 1964. The gallery owner of Studio 17 knew him because he was coincidentally her window cleaner.

He studied at the Royal College of Art (RCA) from 1964 - 1967. In his final year there he won a Harkness Fellowship, which he used to travel to Los Angeles, California and to the nearby Mojave Desert. Soda Lake, an abstract sculpture inspired by the desert landscape, now belongs to the Arts Council Collection.

In 1971 he became a tutor at the RCA, moving on in 1974 to become a principal lecturer and Head of MA in sculpture at Chelsea College of Arts where he remained for “seven happy years”. He served at the British School in Rome, throughout the 1980s and 1990s.

He has exhibited in well over 100 solo shows across the world. Notable exhibitions include: the Kunsthalle Baden-Baden and the Kunsthalle Mannheim, Germany; Nishimura Gallery, Tokyo;Park Ryu Sook Gallery, Seoul; The Robert Elkon Gallery, New York; Oklahoma City Arts Centre, as well as several shows in Australia including his first at the University of Melbourne. His most recent show was at Galerie Andres Thalmann, Zurich.

His British shows have included Nigel Hall: Sculpture and Drawing 1965-2008 - Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Wakefield, West Yorkshire (2008), the Royal Academy of Arts, London (2011) and Annely Juda Fine Art, London (most recent in 2016).

Awards include the Pollock-Krasner Award (1995) and the Jack Goldhill Award for Sculpture from the Royal Academy of Arts (2002), where he was elected an Academician in 2003.
