This app is run by University of the Arts London (UAL), and it uses the CampusM application which has been built by ExLibris (part of the Clarivate). This accessibility statement applies to the iOS application, the Android application and the website version of MyUAL.
Other apps, websites and browser based systems on the arts.ac.uk domain have their own accessibility statements.
The app uses React and some of their proprietary libraries to render the content on the front end. React is a JavaScript framework that was created by Facebook and is widely used across the web and mobile apps. CSS and HTML 5 are used on the website version also used in the app versions but are not the core to rendering content.
We commit to ensuring MyUAL is as accessible as possible and we want as many people as possible to be able to use it. This means that you should be able to:
- use the app on a variety of iOS and Android devices
- use the app with assistive software available on iOS and Android devices
- access the content of the app with a web browser regardless of the device and browser you are using
- navigate most of the app and website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the app and the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver).

How accessible this app is
We know that some parts of the app are not fully accessible:
- the app links to other websites, systems and content that may not be fully accessible
- some systems integrations may not be fully accessible
- some links may not provide enough context for screen reader users
- some colour combinations used do not provide sufficient colour contrast
- some illogical heading structures are present in the app
- there is no consistent heading structure on the website.

Compliance status
This application is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
- Some illogical heading structure are present. This fails WCAG success criterion 1.3.1 Info and Relationships (Level A).
- In the website version of the app there is no consistent heading structure which may cause difficulties with navigation functionality of assistive technology. This fails WCAG criterion 2.4.6 Headings and Labels (Level AA).
- In the iOS version of the app colour contrast combinations are present that pass minimum requirements, however, some are present that do not pass the 4.5:1 minimum ratio. This partially fails 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) (Level AA).
- Some pages are present that contain moving content. This fails WCAG success criterion 2.2.2 Pause, Stop, Hide (Level A).
- Links when live tile is configured for library integration were found to lack a description that provided enough content to screen reader users. This partially fails 2.4.4. Link Purpose (In Context) (Level A).
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
UAL is reviewing the provision of information for students and we will be retiring the MyUAL app in due course. As such, we will not be developing the app further.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 12 April 2021. It was last reviewed on 20 December 2022.
The iOS, Android and web version of the app were tested by in October 2019. The tests were carried out by the Digital Accessibility Centre on behalf of ExLibris and the reports are available to view or download from the CampusM accessibility statement on the ExLibris website.
