In summer 2020 Wimbledon College of Arts started site development work as part of a multimillion-pound investment programme. The main phase of works has now been completed, with the final works to refurbish the library due to finish in early 2023.

The work supports the College’s transformation to a world-leading performance centre providing high quality design studios, rehearsal rooms and theatre facilities for students interested in studying acting and performance design at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

The redevelopment of the site has delivered the following improvements:

  • an updated theatre and green screen facilities
  • refurbished design studios
  • a new digital performance studio
  • a refurbished main reception
  • improved front of the main college buildings
  • more greenery added to the external landscaping.

In addition to improving the student experience and creating a more positive and attractive presence for our students, staff, visitors and neighbours, the site developments have also been an opportunity to create a more environmentally friendly College. This has been achieved through measures such as better insulation, improving energy efficiency in fixtures and the use of modern, sustainable materials.
