Biography

Dr Peter A. Hall is Reader in Graphic Design at Camberwell College of Arts and Chelsea College of Arts. His research focuses on mapping and visualisation as critical and participatory practices. He is currently co-writing a critical guide to data visualisation (Bloomsbury Academic 2022)

He is the UAL lead on Plastic Justice, a pan-European educational collaboration between 5 art and design colleges to look into the issue of micro-plastics pollution and how design might disseminate new knowledge and awareness of the issues and possible responses.

Dr Hall was previously Course Leader of BA Graphic Communication Design at Central Saint Martins (2015-2021), Programme Director of BA Design and Design Futures at Griffith University Queensland College of Art in Australia (2012-15), Senior Lecturer in Design at the University of Texas at Austin, USA (2007-12), and Lecturer in Graphic Design at Yale School of Art, USA (2000-2007).

He is co-founder of DesignInquiry, a non-profit educational organisation devoted to researching design issues in intensive team-based gatherings, based in Maine, USA.

His essays appear in:
