Edward Venning is to step down as Director Communication & External Affairs. After 8 years at UAL, he will leave the university at the end of June 2022 to develop a new consultancy project.

Starting in 2014, Edward set a new direction for UAL’s external and internal communications and joined Executive Board in 2019.  With an award-winning team, he established UAL’s relationship with policymakers at all levels, launched UAL’s brand proposition — “Because the World needs Creativity” — and re-set UAL’s digital services. He was a driving force in the creation of the GLA-backed Fashion District, Shift London at the Olympic Park (launching on 17 June 2022), and the AKO Storytelling Institute.

Thank you all for the conversation and inspiration that make up this great university. I’ve loved my part in our vibrant, fascinating community.

— Edward Venning, Director Communication & External Affairs
Edward has done a brilliant job at UAL. He has helped make UAL the world-class, purposeful institution it is. We’ll miss his commitment and expertise, and unwavering belief in the power of creativity to make a difference.
