Remi Weekes, a graduate of the BA Film and Television course at London College of Communication, UAL has won a Bafta
for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer with his feature film debut, ‘His House’.

Remi also won 4 British Independent Film Awards in February 2021 for his horror film, and was nominated for 3 Bafta awards in total at this year’s ceremony.

'His House’ was written and directed by Remi from a story by Felicity Evans and Toby Venables. It tells the story of a South Sudanese couple (played by Wunmi Mosaku and Sopé Dìrísù) who seek asylum in the UK. When they arrive, they find themselves stuck in a council house with a supernatural presence.

The Guardian called ‘His House’ “a confident and compelling statement of intent from a young, ambitious film-maker" in their 4-star review. The Independent also gave it 4 stars, saying that the film game “the haunted house genre a new dimension of depth and intimacy.”

The film was premiered at the Sundance film festival in 2020 and is now available to watch on Netflix.
