Biography

Jayne Knowles is Dean of Performance Arts and Foundation for Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon Colleges of Arts.

She oversees all of the acting, performance and design courses at Wimbledon College of Arts, as well as, the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Camberwell College of Arts. In her role she works closely with course teams on course developments and with educational partners in the UK and internationally.

Knowles is an artist and maker and her practice is broad in terms of the context and audience. She has worked on public design commissions, produced exhibition interactives for galleries, as well as producing personal work in her studio. Narrative is an important element to the work she makes. She lives in Essex and continues her research as a practicing artist and has her studio at Cuckoo Farm Studios, in Colchester.

Her practice has always been underpinned through engagement with education and she has worked in art schools for 25 years, teaching on Foundation, BA and MA courses. She is interested in how students are supported to be successful at each of these three levels. Before this role she was Associate Dean and prior to joining UAL she was Head of School at Colchester School of Art.
