Sylvia Moritz who graduated from Camberwell BA Graphic Design (2014), was this year awarded a commission by UAL to create two bespoke murals for the Halls of Residence newest developments.

The Highline Building in Elephant & Castle and Sketch House in Finsbury Park were transformed by Sylvia’s large intricate murals that are displayed in the common rooms.

Robin Holloway (UAL development manager responsible for both buildings) had seen and was impressed by Sylvia’s work at the Camberwell College of Arts degree show, and was delighted when she agreed to join the project team to provide two bespoke artworks. Sylvia created fine art etchings of local landmarks in both Elephant & Castle and Finsbury Park, which were then digitally printed onto the wall coverings. In all new residences, the University has been looking to celebrate student talent, as well as connect the buildings with the parts of London they are located in.

Both buildings opened in early September, and the common room in each have been hosting a chock-a-block programme of social events since, all against the backdrop of our talented UAL alumni!
