BA Painting graduate Charles Moxon has been offered the prestigious Lux Art Institute residency, where he will create work in the Lux Artist Pavilion that combines a residence, studio and exhibition space. Founded in 1998 with the intention of making art more accessible and personally meaningful, the Lux Art Institute invites visitors into artist’s studios to engage with practitioners work as it unfolds. The residency programme was established in 2007.
The youngest artist to have been offered this unique opportunity, since graduating from the Camberwell BA Painting course in 2013, Charles has developed his profile as a skilled portrait artist. Combining painterly techniques of the past with photorealism he creates timeless portraits. Throughout his residency at Lux, Charles will be exploring portraiture of performers including local actors, musicians and surfers.
As a resident artist of Season 9 at the Lux Art Insitute, Charles will work in the studio from November 14 – December 5, 2015. An exhibition of his work will be on display until January 2, 2016. Charles is the only British artist to be undertaking the residency this season. American artists Max Greis, Sophia Narrett, Margaret Griffith and Angela Kallus will also be undertaking residencies as part of the Lux 2015-16 programme.
