Just before Easter, around 50 young people in Year 12 at schools across London joined the UAL Outreach team at Camberwell College of Arts for a week of creative workshops to experience the university’s environment.

Run by Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon Outreach team, the Insights Spring School delivers a range of innovative programmes across the university to inspire and develop the creative potential of students aged 16 and over.  Students from partner schools and colleges in Greater London are invited to explore different approaches to art, design, fashion, media and communication.

Held at the Foundation Centre at Wilson road, students took part in workshops and activities rotating around four studios: Fine Art, Graphic Design and Illustration, 3D Design and Theatre and Screen. On the final day students elected to work in a studio of their choice and curated an exhibition of work alongside outreach ambassadors from that studio. At the end of the week students took part in individual tutorials to discuss the week’s activity and talk about how they might develop their work in the future.

This is what some of the students have to say:

“I have learnt that I enjoy all areas of art and design but this course has allowed me to make a clear choice on which subject I’d like to continue with.”
