Last week, a selected group of students from schools and further education colleges from the London area, worked alongside tutors and ambassadors from courses across Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon including the Foundation Diploma to offer them an insight into UAL life.
The four days of workshops and tutorials focused on Fine Art, Visual Communication, 3D Design and Theatre/Screen. The event was held at Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon’s Progression Centre, finalising with an exhibition from the participating student’s work. The Insights Spring Schools are for young people whose parents have not completed a university degree. Below are images taken from Instagram and quotes from participating students.
“It was a great experience as we had a chance to work with different materials and techniques. Also it was interesting to explore and learn what visual communication is and how one can translate written language into visual language.”
“My first day was great! It’s good to hang around with people who have the same interest as you. It’s also good for me to see how different people work. Plus, I met new and very interesting people.”
“I was surprised to find that my interests lie not only in fine art but in theatre too.”
“It was a little bit challenging at first because we had to improvise and create something using collages rather than pen or pencil. Towards the end I really enjoyed working at a fast pace because the work I created was more interesting because of this.”
