We were given an in-depth tour of the Digital Fabrication and Plastics workshop at Camberwell recently, which is part of the 3D Design workshops.

The Digital Fabrication and Plastics workspace has a 30 Watt laser cutter,  a 750FLB vacuum former, a hot wire cutter, a hot wire strip heater and a Ultimaker2 extended+ 3D printer.  Students can use these machines in a variety of ways, accommodating different materials. The laser cutter is best used with a vector file ready to go, which you can learn about and prepare in Camberwell’s Digital Media Resource Centre, which is part of our Digital Media workshop.

As part of our tour we took some photographs of the Digital Fabrication and Plastics space and pieces of work created, including some Christmas decorations – designed in the digital media resource and made using the laser cutter.
