Sharon Bertram is a lecturer and Unit 1 leader for BA Graphic Design at Camberwell College of Arts.
She is a project coordinator for UAL Outreach at Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon, working on the National Collaborative Outreach Programme alongside Linking London. She also works within Outreach on the UAL Insights Autumn, Winter and Summer Schools Programmes and contributes to the Insights Online magazine.
Sharon co-ordinates and runs community engagement and extra-curricular art, graphic design and ceramics educational workshops. She has extensive experience and uses her industry networks to create and run various projects that collaborate with different organisations, these include The Wytham Studios at the University of Oxford, The Design Museum and Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Sharon graduated with a BA in Graphic Design and a MA in Fine Art Digital both from Camberwell College of Arts. She has commercial graphic design experience within the gaming industry and in a freelance capacity. She has taught in art and design, graphic design, theatre design and digital media at various institutions across the educational sector including, South Thames College, Southwark College, Greenwich University and Wimbledon College of Arts. She holds both a Post Graduate Certificate in Art Education and a PGCert from UAL and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority.
Her research interests include the theory and practice of graphic design, gamification and ceramics.
Sharon’s teaching philosophy is based on a student-centred approach to learning and inclusive design practice for social change. Her practice is a synthesis of her research interests and an interdisciplinary approach to all her work.
