  • Externally, use the abbreviation 'Wimbledon' once you’ve established its meaning by using our full name.

Brand narrative

Our brand narrative has been developed to outline what we stand for and should underpin everything we do:

A collaborative performance environment producing bold, innovative performers and experimental designers.

We offer an integrated multi-disciplinary performance environment that enables a unique, ensemble approach to theatre making and performance, engaging material practices, new technologies and performers to develop cutting edge, contemporary work. Students design, perform and manage theatre and live events to a professional level. We believe in a non-hierarchical, inclusive approach to performance making, that treats all the elements of Performance (acting, directing, writing, design, technologies) as equal partners. This provides the right environment to develop and equip talented pioneers in theatre and performance. We integrate actor and performance training with interactive technologies to explore and interrogate new ideas, and nurture bold, innovative performers and experimental designers of the future.

What we do

Wimbledon College of Arts, UAL has an international reputation for producing performance graduates known for their creativity, technical accomplishment and professionalism. We’re an art college with a supportive community of students, academics and technicians who share a passion for creative expression through practical experimentation. Students learn in the College’s specialist workshops, theatre, performance spaces and studios from expert tutors and technicians who either work in the industry or have their own practices. Through the College’s shared course projects, lectures and exhibitions and live and recorded performances our students are encouraged to work collaboratively, working in teams to design, perform and manage theatre, performance and other live events.

Using our brand narrative

Sometimes you may need to shorten the narrative to tailor it to the needs of your audience or to adhere to specific word count.

Example — one sentence:

A collaborative performance environment producing bold, innovative performers and experimental designers.

Example — one paragraph:

Wimbledon College of Arts, UAL has an international reputation for producing performance graduates known for their creativity, technical accomplishment and professionalism. We’re an art college with a supportive community of students, academics and technicians who share a passion for creative expression through practical experimentation.

With the UAL brand narrative

There may be times when you have to reference Wimbledon alongside the wider University:

  • Prioritise language which describes Wimbledon, supported by extracts from the UAL brand narrative and messaging pillars to bring clarity to the connection to the University brand.
  • Avoid duplication of language between narratives as this can become confusing for audiences.

Imagery

Imagery is a key part of our brand. So it's important that the imagery we use showcases the best of what we do at Wimbledon:

  • the work of our students from across the College's schools and courses
  • our diverse community of students, alumni and staff
  • our state-of-the-art facilities
  • our part in the community of Wimbledon, South-West London.

We also need to make sure that all imagery includes the correct copyright information and is credited in line with our crediting guidelines.
