Join us to celebrate the publication of Brian Dawn Chalkley’s book of drawings Dawn in Wonderland and Other Stories, this evening Thursday  5th June 2014 5-7pm in the Old Chelsea Library.

Asides from being Chelsea College of Arts Course Director of MA Fine Art, Brian Chalkley is also an important transgender artist, known for his drawings, paintings and important video work exploring queer identity and subculture. His work is based around two characters Brian and Dawn, Dawn being a transvestite personality. Dawn in Wonderland and Other Stories is a book of drawings Chalkley created between 2000 and 2003. The book also includes texts by Guardian critic Adrian Searle, and screenwriter Tony Grizoni.

During the book launch, screenwriter Tony Grizoni will read abstracts from his contribution to the book, followed by an informal panel discussion with Brian’s friends and collaborators. There will also be a chance to view some of Chalkley’s important video works.
