UAL is creating a new Institute for Social Design led by Professor Lucy Kimbell. This will consolidate and amplify UAL’s world-leading inspiring research, knowledge exchange and teaching and learning in these areas. In particular it will connect the Centre for Circular Design, Design Against Crime Research Centre, Centre for Sustainable Fashion and Innovation Insights Hub with related activities across the colleges.
The institute will bring together and support UAL PhD students researching social design and design for sustainability by providing opportunities to showcase research and building pathways for postgraduate careers. To work towards this, as part of its pilot year the Institute is hosting an open meeting for UAL postgraduate students (both taught and research). This is an opportunity to find out more about the Institute and shape what it can do for students.
